Faro Trafalgar

Today we recommend a visit to this magical point of the Cadiz coast, Faro Trafalgar Lighthouse and its surroundings. Faro Trafalgar lighthouse is located on a small tomb that surrounds the islet of sandstone land located between the inlets of Conil de la Frontera and Barbate and the coast, by means of two sand bars that enclose an ancient coastal lagoon, today filled with sediment.

This Tómbolo was declared a Natural Monument in 2001, a figure of protection that has the purpose of safeguarding unique places that stand out for their ecological, landscape, scientific and cultural values. And without a doubt, this beautiful natural monument must be on the list of your places to visit in our region called La Janda. Not only for the natural and historical that counts, but also for the atmosphere in this area. It has two bars / restaurants open all-year-round where there is normally live music, cold beer and good food, we are talking about the Ohana bar and Las Dunas. Highly recommended!

Its strategic situation has favored, throughout history, an immense human activity, as evidenced by the existence of both Roman and Spanish-Muslim vestiges. A watchtower was built in the 9th century, the remains of which can still be seen next to the lighthouse Faro Trafalgar.
